49 Years of Power, People, and Progress
On August 1, 2026, Industrial Battery Products will celebrate 49 years in business. What began in 1977 as a modest St. Louis sales and service operation has grown into a regional DC power company serving customers across six major Midwest markets.
That growth did not happen all at once, and it did not happen by accident. It was built over decades through hard work, trusted relationships, evolving capabilities, and people who understood that serving the customer meant more than simply supplying a product.

From a Local Battery Shop to a Midwest Power Partner
IBP began by supporting forklift fleets throughout Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois. In those early years, the company focused on the batteries, chargers, service, and support needed to keep local operations moving.
As customer needs grew, IBP grew with them. The company expanded into Kansas City, Omaha, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Des Moines, creating a six location network with St. Louis remaining its headquarters.
Each new location extended IBP’s reach, but more importantly, it carried forward the same local service mindset that shaped the company from the beginning. Customers needed knowledgeable people who would answer the phone, show up, understand the application, solve problems, and follow through.
Over time, IBP became more than a battery supplier. It became a trusted regional partner to warehouses, manufacturers, distribution centers, telecommunications networks, healthcare facilities, commercial properties, and other organizations that depend on reliable power.
Growing With the Needs of the Industry
As technology and customer operations changed, IBP continued to evolve. The company expanded beyond its motive power foundation into a broader range of DC power capabilities, including Motive PowerCare, PC Platinum, Installation Services, Critical Power, and EV Charging.
These additions reflected more than business growth. They reflected a willingness to listen, learn, and respond to increasingly complex customer needs.
Today, IBP supports far more than the sale of a battery or charger. The company helps customers evaluate equipment, plan for replacement, maintain critical assets, improve battery rooms, install charging infrastructure, support essential power systems, and manage the long term reliability of their operations.
That evolution is captured in IBP’s mission: Learn. Serve. Grow.
IBP learns the application, the equipment, the technology, and the customer’s operation. It serves by bringing experience, honesty, responsiveness, and accountability to the work. It grows by developing its people, expanding its capabilities, and creating stronger relationships with the customers and communities it supports.
The philosophy, Stop selling. Start serving., reflects that same approach. It is a reminder that the best solutions begin with understanding, not pressure, and that trust is earned by helping people make the right decision for their operation.
The People Behind the Story
Although IBP’s history can be measured in years, locations, services, and milestones, the real story of the company is its people.
It is the technician responding when a customer has an urgent problem. It is the salesperson walking a facility, asking questions, and working to understand the application. It is the customer service team locating the right part, the driver delivering equipment, the installer coordinating a project, and the leader accepting responsibility when something needs to be corrected.
IBP has been built by people who take ownership, value integrity, remain teachable, and care about the quality of their work. It has also been built by customers who placed their trust in the company, partners who helped expand its capabilities, and leaders who were willing to make decisions for the long term.
That is the meaning behind Your Power. Our Responsibility.
The phrase is not simply about equipment. It reflects the responsibility IBP accepts when a customer depends on its people, knowledge, service, and follow through. Reliable power matters because the work being supported matters.
For nearly five decades, IBP employees have helped customers keep production moving, protect critical systems, complete installations, solve difficult problems, and prepare for what comes next. Those moments, repeated thousands of times across the Midwest, are what built the company’s reputation.

Looking Toward 50 Years
Forty nine years is an important milestone, but it also places IBP at the beginning of a significant new chapter.
The company is approaching its 50th year with a strong foundation, a growing range of capabilities, and a clear understanding of what has sustained it since 1977. Products and technology will continue to change. Customer expectations will continue to rise. The power industry will continue to evolve.
What should not change is the commitment to learn, serve, and grow.
As IBP celebrates its 49th birthday, it is appropriate to recognize the employees, customers, partners, families, and leaders who helped carry the company from one small St. Louis location to the organization it is today.
The next chapter is still being written, and IBP enters it with gratitude for its past, confidence in its people, and a continued commitment to serving the Midwest for years to come.
